Celebrity Book Auction Benefits Young Readers

August 24, 2010

ErnieOur 2nd Annual Celebrity Autographed Book Auction gave the SAG Foundation’s Children’s Literacy Initiative a strong vote of confidence with the help of eager bidders and thoughtful contributors.

Such luminaries as Sir Sidney Poitier, Sting, Julie Andrews, Bill Cosby, Dr. Drew, Coach John Wooden, Patricia Heaton and many more donated autographed copies of their books to help raise funds for the Foundation’s literacy programs. From August 2 – August 17, the prized selections were available for online bidding thanks to our friends at the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation, whose charity auctions serve the needs of children across the globe.

A signed copy of Ernie: The Autobiography by 2010 Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award honoree Ernest Borgnine gave the SAG Foundation’s Children’s Literacy Initiative the biggest push of the event, with fourteen bids culminating in a three-hundred-dollar win.
