LA Times Festival of Books
April 20, 2012
For the first time BookPALS was given a booth at the 3rd Annual LA Times Festival of Books on the USC campus April20-21st. We covered lots of bases!
An Interactive Storyline Online booth was set up with three laptops so kids could sample our videos. A few of our dedicated BookPALS read live to enthusiastic SoCal kids on pillows set up on the ground under the tent. We had lots of coloring pages, crayons, and glitter for the kids to enjoy. We were invited to host a segment on the main Hoy Stage, too.
SAG Foundation’s Storyline Online reader Hector Elizondo read “Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch” live and Constance Marie read “The Paper Bag Princess” and also had Katie LeClerc (‘Switched at Birth’) sign “Chester’s Way” with American Sign Language while Vanessa Marano (‘Switched at Birth’’) read aloud! Books were everywhere, the festival was packed and a good time was had by all!
