LOS ANGELES (May 31, 2014) – The newest video addition to the Screen Actors Guild Foundation’s Storyline Online, a children’s literacy website featuring celebrated actors reading award-winning children’s books, isThe Kiss That Missed, written and illustrated by David Melling and read by actor Karan Brar. Brar, known by young audiences for his roles in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film series and the Disney Channel’s Jessie, joins a distinguished list of Storyline Online readers including Annette Bening, Hector Elizondo, James Earle Jones, Rita Moreno, Betty White and Elijah Wood. The SAG Foundation’s Storyline Online (www.storylineonline.net) receives more than 2.4 million views in over 210 countries every month.

“It’s a real honor to read for Storyline Online because the other readers are my idols. It’s so cool to follow in their footsteps and be a part of the same project,” said Karan Brar. “I’ve participated in the SAG Foundation’s literacy programs because I think reading connects people. Sharing a book can form a bond, make new friendships and pass on knowledge. It really connects kids to each other and the whole community.”

On Friday, May 30, Brar helped to launch the new video with a live reading of The Kiss That Missed for two classes of starstruck second grade students at San Fernando Elementary School in Los Angeles. Brar dazzled his fans with his quirky character voices offered to take a slew of questions about his work in television and film. Brar wrapped-up the special event with autographs and hi-fives.
