Florida BookPALS

With readers in 12 counties from Tallahassee to Miami, SAG-AFTRA Foundation Florida BookPALS volunteers read aloud to children in Title I schools every week.

The imaginations of thousands of children have been sparked by the animated and engaging delivery of BookPALS. By sharing their love of story, character, language, and reading, union performers make a real difference in the lives of Florida students.

PencilPALS, a writing initative that originated in Florida, works with students to chronicle their experiences in polished prose while keeping alive the art of letter writing.

“It is an exciting day for me when I see in the mailbox an envelope bearing my name written in the careful penmanship of one of my PencilPALS students,” says veteran PencilPAL Judy Babcock.
