New England BookPALS

After strong appeals from local actors and SAG-AFTRA board members and staff, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation reopened its New England BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools) branch in 2014. Union performers are reading aloud weekly to elementary children in Title I schools, from Boston, Massachusetts to Ellsworth, Maine.

By sharing their love of story, character, language, and reading, BookPALS volunteers are making a real difference in the lives of New England students.

If you are a New England union performer who is interested in becoming a BookPALS volunteer, let us know!

If you are a New England educator who would like to request a BookPALS volunteer to read to your classroom or school, let us know as well!
