San Francisco BookPALS

A branch of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation BookPALS program, San Francisco Area BookPALS read aloud to thousands of children in Title I schools every month.

By using their talents as performers, San Francisco Area BookPALS bring stories to life, awaken imaginations in children and stimulate an interest in books. According to San Francisco BookPAL Mary Dilts, “There is nothing more gratifying than sharing the joy of reading with my first graders.” Dilts reads at Rooftop Elementary School.

San Francisco Area BookPALS are fortunate to have the support of San Francisco FirstBook, Green Apple Books, and Children’s Book Project. Due to their generous donations, San Francisco Area BookPALS distributed over 2500 books to children in the Bay Area and wrapped 300 books for children living in shelters for the holidays last year.
